Competitor analysis is a crucial aspect of App Store Optimization (ASO) strategy.
By examining the strategies, performance, and market positioning of competing apps, you can gain valuable insights to inform your own ASO efforts.

Adding Competitors to Your List

To add a competitor to your list, click on the bookmark icon on the app card.
To find competitors, you can use the following methods:

  • App search: Search for apps by name, publisher, or keyword.
  • App Info: You may also like & You may also like: Reverse sections
  • Top apps in a category: View the top apps in a category to identify competitors.

Competitor Insights

The Competitors screen provides an overview of the apps you’ve added to your list.
Switch between countries to analyze app data for specific regions.

The data displayed on the app card includes:

  • App icon
  • App position: The app’s ranking on the selected date.
  • Change in position
    • - [Position] ↓: Indicates a drop in position by a certain number of positions
    • + [Position] ↑: Indicates an increase in position by a certain number of positions
    • : No longer ranked.
    • : New ranking position.

When you hover over the position change, a tooltip will display the current and previous positions.

  • Previous position: Indicates the app’s previous position for Out of Top applications.
  • App name
  • Subtitle
  • Current rating
  • Number of ratings
  • Publisher
  • Number of downloads
  • Revenue data (for grossing apps)
  • Price: Indicates whether the app is totally free or free with in-app purchases or paid
  • Bookmark icon button to add to the Competitors list
  • Button with a keyhole for viewing the app’s keywords through the Spy screen
  • Button to view app’s screenshots
  • Button to view app’s in-app subscriptions
  • Button to view app’s in-app events
  • More icon button to view:
    • App Id: The unique identifier for the app in the App Store.
    • Button to copy the app’s link to the Clipboard.
    • Button to open the app’s page directly in the App Store.

Clicking on the app card will open App information view.

When you tap on an app card, you can access a detailed screen showing the key metrics of the competitor’s app for the selected country.
